Introduction
Sinawali
– Sinawalis (5th to 3rd klase) with footwork* (*closed triangles, complex pattern)
– X-sinawali right and left with transition and footwork *
– Variations: – 2nd double stick series against standard sinawali (single, double, X)
– 2 vs.1, right and left against standard sinawali (single, double, X)
Defence techniques (used in modern & classical)
– Striking blocks
Modern single stick
Techniques and combinations
– Counterattacks: Abanico (2-5 strikes)
– Combination: strike, punyo (butt), stab and abanico (5-7 counterattacks)
– 2nd disarming series (attacks with right and left)
– with a stick
– with a flexible object (belt)
– empty hands
1st & 2nd disarming series with the stick in the other hand
Drills
– Modern 1-1: – move out into karanza and back into the drill
– change from medio to corto (punyo (butt) 1-1) and back
Tapi-Tapi: – 3 punyo (butt) techniques, (both right and left)
– abanico from reverse blocks (right and left)
– hand changes in all three distances
– initiate disarms (all known series) but continue the drill

Drill:
Classical 1-1: begin in largo, move out to karanza and return to 1-1
Karanza
Karanza free flow movement using arnis footwork in multiple directions including:
– stick techniques (single stick and double stick)
– free twirling (including figure 8 and double zero)
Empty hands
– Defence and follow ups
– Principle of the 2nd double stick series against: – stick attack
– empty hand
– Locks (demonstrated with applications)
– centerlock
– standing centerlock
– shoulder lock
Drill
– Modern Drill: – with high-low variations of strike #1 + #2
– change to the left side
– Focus mitt, (level 3): Free movement, multi strike/kick combinations, with bob and weave, blocks and cover blocks against punches
Application with common objects (transferability)
– Demonstrate techniques from this and previous rank levels using flexible objects (e.g. belt, lanyard, towel, clothing)
Self-defence
– Quick releases: – against wrist grab and punch by the attacker
– against bear hugs and chokes
Tasks
– diagonal stick attacks from above (solve using techniques from 5th-3rd klase)
– self-defence in situations defined by the examiner

Grandmaster Datu Dieter Knüttel
Dieter Knüttel, M.A. in sports science is Modern Arnis chief-instructor for der DAV of Germany and European Modern Arnis Representative (1996 -2001) of Professor Remy A. Presas.
He 1received the title of DATU and the rank of Lakan Anim, 6th Dan Modern Arnis from Professor Remy Presas in 1996, as 4th of 6 persons and the only person outside of the USA who has received this title.
After receivinhg his 7th, 8th and 9th Dan in the Philippines, on Septemer 24th 2016 it was publically announced in Dortmund, Germany, that he has awarded 10th Dan, Lakan Sampu by Grandmaster Roberto Presas, 10. Dan Modern Arnis.
Dieter Knuettel is involved with the Filipino Martial Arts since 1978 and he has been teaching FMA/Modern Arnis seminars since 1980 all over Europe, in Australia, in the USA, in Russia and even in the Philippines.
He is one of the most experienced Modern Arnis Masters worldwide.
